Why Dynamic Item Package

1.    Dynamic Item Package

This is very useful on live environment where the changes are done in lower environment and we try to push those change to different environment. Mostly we used to create package on items manually by having a list of changes and then we select each item manually. Anytime did we think of any shortcut in Sitecore? We have an option which Sitecore has provided.

Steps to perform

1. Open Package Designer window and click on items dynamically as shown in below image.


2. Select the parent path on which we need to get all the changes that we want to create a package. Below screenshot we are taking an example from SXA Folder.

3. On click of next you get a new popup window asking for multiple filter criteria.



You can apply multiple filters as per the need.

Various Filter

• Item name filter: this is to filter all matching item name with a combination of Simple, Regular expression or wildcard search.


• Creation Date Filter : this is to apply filter on 2 ways for filtering all the items that are created within those provided date option
  
  
  
  • Within the Past Days : this is to apply last n days option. Example 10 means items created on last 10 days. If no input provided
  
  
  • Specify Dates : this is to filter out a specific date range the item is created. Example Jan 1- Jan 31 date created items only.
  
  
  
  


• Modification Date filter : this is to apply filter on 2 ways for filtering all the items that are modified within those provided date option

• Publish Date Filter : this is to filter out all items that has been published on a specific date. This is useful to get only the items that are also present in Web db which we want to create package.

• Take workflow into account : this is to consider the workflow items to be filtered out.


• Template Filter : Only specific template related items are to be considered, example if we want to create a package of all items that are created with a template name called “page” then we can select the template page which will help to create the item package only which used the template page.


• Created by filter : this is to filter based on user whom the item is created. May be 10 people working in content authoring and we want to move the items that are created by the user1. Then we can use this filter.

• Updated by Filter : this is to filter based on user whom the item is modified. May be 10 people working in content authoring and we want to move the items that are created by the user1. Then we can use this filter.


• Language Filter: This is to filter items for content of that language if we don’t provide a selection then by default to pics all language.

Clear Filter Button : when we need to reset each option in 1 click, then click Clear Filter Button.

On Click of Next rest all same process that we do for package creation
