we have a special guest from Sitecore. Colin te Kempel, Senior Product Manager at Sitecore and former Sitecore MVP will be visiting and has kindly agreed to cover two topics that will be of great interest to both technical and business users. He will be covering the whys and wherefores of xConnect and ways to access and maximise the value in your xDB data.

1. xConnect the Why, What and How:
We will take a look at some of the limitations in xDB in the 8 series and look at why xConnect was introduced. We’ll dive into what xConnect is made up of and how it interacts with the xDB and other sub-systems in Sitecore. Finally we’ll take a look at some use cases around how you might use xConnect in you projects.
2. Set the data free:
Sitecore stores a ton of data, you could say Big Data (cringe), but it’s not only for use inside Sitecore. While having the data available for real time personalization (amongst other features) is awesome, there are a lot of other scenarios within a business that can benefit from having access to this data. We’ll take a look at the features in Sitecore that allow you extract data from Sitecore’s xDB. We’ll then use some of these features to extract some data from Sitecore and send it to Azure HD Insight Spark Cluster and Power Bi, where we can crunch huge volumes of data in real time and show some of the value that can be achieved by integrating xDB into a wider business intelligence stack.
