Sitecore 9 Installation Prerequisites and Requirements

Installation of Sitecore 9 XP1 Prerequisites and Requirements for both scaled and standalone.


To know brief about the basic prerequisites to start the sitecore installation, we need to have the below recommended softwares and setup access required on the server to have a happy installation.
Sitecore Environment Requirement


  • Basic Softwares

    • Java

    • Powershell 5.1

    • Web Deploy 3.5

    • .Net Framework

      • 4.6.2 or later

      • Must apply any available updates to the .NET Framework to every Sitecore installation



    • URL Rewrite

    • IIS

      • IIS 10.0

      • IIS 8.0





  • Permissions

    • ReadWrite access to windows file path

    • Certificate access.



  • Database

    • MS SQL Server is supported

      • Microsoft SQL Server 2016 SP1

        • This version supports the XM databases and is the required and only supported version for the Experience Database (xDB).



      • Microsoft SQL Server 2014 SP2

        • This version only supports XM databases and does not support the Experience Database (xDB).







  • Search & Indexing - Sitecore Supports the following index providers

    • Solr 6.6.2

      • For the XP Single (XP0), XP Scaled (XP1) and XM Scaled (XM1) topologies,

      • Solr is the default search provider.



    • Azure Search Platform




Note:



  • Admin rights is required to execute installation script.

  • Sitecore Cannot Operate from a Virtual Directory

  • Sitecore Experience Platform does not support operating from a virtual directory.
